In September 1997 the state-of-the-art 52,000-square-foot Naturally Potatoes® plant in Mars Hill was completed at a cost of 15 million dollars. It has the capacity to produce 30,000 pounds of refrigerated potato products an hour. That’s 180 million pounds annually!
A new structure of approximately 14,000 square feet was recently added.
According to Food Engineering magazine, the plant was a "break-through in processing technology which extends the refrigerated shelf life of fresh-cut potatoes and adds value for both consumers and producers. The process combines new technology with creative adaptation of existing methods.”
